Who We Are

100 years of industry expertise, at your service.

Since 1922, the Ontario Electrical League (OEL) has been a non-profit member-based organization dedicated to supporting and evolving the advancement of independent Licensed Electrical Contractors (LECs) in the province.

We’re here to accelerate careers and kick start new ones. To share industry and trade knowledge. To advocate for our Members to help them overcome obstacles. To foster industry-wide networks and collaboration. And to represent and pave the way for future generations in the trade by showing that with 38,000 Individual Members, we’re stronger together.

Our history of reliability and strength

1940s

Certified electricians were in high demand. So, the Ontario Electrical League opened and operated over 14 wiring schools to answer the call and keep the trade going strong.
1950s

The Ontario Electrical League held its first annual conference, to bring independent electricians contractors together for the first time.
1960s

The decade that the brand truly became the association it is today with the Electric Service League of Ontario and the Electrical Heating Association amalgamating in 1966 to officially become OEL.
